In America in the beginning, the performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the category of child prodigies. A child of Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen arrived in this nurturing haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and was also the owner of the well-known Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons came second in a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen loved playing rough sports as a kid and excelled in sports. This passion was combined with an equally natural talent to perform. Her winning of almost all Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to this. At age 14she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
